Usually ships with delivery confirmation. Where available, a photo of the actual cover has been provided instead of a stock photo. Condition description: Ex-library copy, a well used copy with usual markings, the lamination on the plastic cover has 'de-laminated' or lifted off along the spine, giving it a rippled or bubble-like edge on the edges of the spine. A sturdy copy, but the spine seems a little loose inside the binding, but this is a fully serviceable copy with many years of life still left, if one overlooks the flaws on the exterior, it has been priced lower than comparable copies of this work. This is an English-language introduction to French poetry with stanzas and examples in French. An indispensable part of any French language education is reading poetry. Much has been written in French, for native French speakers, but not so much material is available for introducing even the advanced student (or 'A-level' student in Great Britain as referred to below), that approaches from the English-language side of the subtleties of French poetry. From the book: 'how to use this book page': Very little has been written on the work of the French poets, while much has been written on their lives, their thoughts, and their theories. Anyone who has taught and studied French literature in schools or universities will know that it is possible for a student not only to qualify at A-Level but to graduate and even carry out advanced research without ever having heard a French poem adequately read. By adequate reading I mean a rendering which befits a work of art. And yet the prime claim which poets have on our attention is that they are artists in words. * Price:
