Gerald Kaufman Meet Me in St. Louis (BFI Film Classics) British Film Institute 0851705014 / 9780851705019 PAPERBACK Fair 0851705014 Marked as acceptable because this is an ex-library copy, rebound by library as a hardcover with plastic laminated cover. The lamination has come loose around the spine, making the surface adjacent to the spine look a little bubbly and uneven where the book has been opened and closed. Has the usual stamps, markings, and bar codes, some of the bar codes have been marked with a magic marker, 72 pages, BFI (British Film Institute) publishers, 1994 copyright, ISBN: 0851705014. Title: Meet Me In St. Louis, author: Gerald Kaufman. Usually ships with delivery confirmation. Where available, a photo of the actual cover has been provided instead of a stock photo. Condition description: usual library markings already noted, flaws in the spine where the plastic cover has separated somewhat from the hardcover library custom binding, on the other hand this copy is durable and will withstand years of use in the future. Author spent time in looking at library archives of the studios to derive some very interesting material about the making of this iconic film - apparently the actual making of the film was nowhere as rosy as the subject matter of the film itself. The book provides an interesting counterweight and depicts the artistic struggle that went into it, from disputes from the Hayes code about language and moral issues, to the extended absences of Judy Garland and Margaret O'Brien. Some interesting insights in what it took to make the young actor Margaret O'Brien to cry on cue, that definitely would not be approved of today. Price:
