A snapshot of world air resources in 1963 with colorful insignia and general information at the height of the Cold War. From the endflap: The world has long become used to the fact that virtually every country spends more and more from year to year on its Air Arm whether it be aligned with Eastern or Western bloc or neutral, whether it is a major power supporting large strategic and tactical air forces, or a small nation concerned primarily with internal security. There are now more than one hundred individual air forces operating nearly 400 different aircraft types ranging from supersonic strike fighters and strategic bombers, to light helicopters and liaison aircraft. The Macdonald World Air Power Guide compiled by William Green and Dennis Punnett produces for the first time an inexpensive and easily referable directory to the whole spectrum of Military Aviation today. The tremendous diversity of aircraft types currently in service is illustrated by nearly four hundred detailed drawings all of which are reproduced to a common scale: the national insignia of each air arm is illustrated in full colour: the pertinent facts concerning each individual Air Force are concisely presented and pages of data tables provide up-to-the-minute specifications for each aircraft type. *
