Alfred H. Jr. ; The Museum Of Modern Art; Barr; Cezanne; Gauguin; Seurat; Van Gogh; Et Al The Museum of Modern Art First Loan Exhibition - New York - November 1929 - Cezanne, Guaguin, Seurat, Van Gogh - Limited Edition Museum Of Modern Art B000P0U6MW PAPERBACK Fair B000P0U6MW Publisher: Conde Naste Press 3rd Printing (limited edition of 2000 copies). 98 Black and white illustrations of works by Cezanne, Guaguin, Seurat, Van Gogh. This is the original New York Museum of Modern Art catalog not the later reprints from the 70s or other times. The museum opened in November of 1929, just days after the Great Crash of 1929. This represents the first major loan exhibition and would be of interest to anyone involved in the early history of the museum. Introduction is by the newly hired Alfred H. Barr a protege of Paul Sachs one of the founding trustees. They steered the museum to international prominence in a short time, and this represents some of their initial efforts in their earliest six room gallery and office space in the Heckscher Building in Manhattan. The museum quickly rose to international prominence and is a reminder of those earliest days. * Front cover has some water spot stains that is why the book is not rated good to very good, the back cover some spotting as well along the spine, but it was apparently cleaned up quickly with no major repercussions to the rest of the book. There is no damage to the interior of the book. The book shows some typical used book wear, with edges of covers slightly bent, some scrapes and mild creasing. Spine shows shelf wear at head and foot of spine. A cursory review of the pages does not show any highlighting or writing. Binding is tight. * Price:
99.97 USD
