Book shows some typical used book wear, with edges of covers slightly bent, no highlighting or notes found. Pages 135-138 are torn diagonally, but still readable. This is a good reading copy, its shortcomings are the inexpensive paper stock from the Madras, India publisher. Price in Nepalese rupees on small red sticker adheres to copyright page.

B001GDOJU2 Hardback. First reprint date 1988, from the 1928 original. No dust jacket indicated. Small paper sticker on copyright page with original price in Nepalese rupees. Book shows typical wear for used book, covers have creasing and small scrapes, binding is tight. Some wear and rubbing of the gilded titles on the spine and front cover. Some soiling on the front cover. No markings or highlighting found during a cursory search of the pages. The pages are wrinkled here and there, this is an Asian reprint from New Dehli and in this case the quality control is not as high, but this is a good reading copy.

Book has small dog-ears / folds around page 86 for about a dozen pages. Pages 334-335 has a small crack in the binding showing the woven material underneath. Gold lettering shows some rubbing. Reprinted in India from 1924 original, but reproductions / illustrations are a little blurred. A fascinating story of the efforts of the Jesuits to win converts in far-off Tibet and the struggle over generations as successive missionaries tried to establish themselves in an alien world with its own fervent devotees to Buddhism. *

There are some small tears and chips in the dust jacket There is a little shelf wear on the book itself at the top and bottom of the spine. No handwriting or highlighting found. An interesting introductory book to the civilization and people of Tibet, told by the elder brother of the Dalai Lama and co-authored by the noted anthropolgist Colin Turnbull. Stories from the past, customs of traditional Tibetans, and excerpts from sacred texts make this an interesting read from many different aspects.
